Senegal: 78 Cases of COVID-19 Detected After the Hajj Procession

Senegalese authorities were able to confirm 78 patients with COVID
On Tuesday, senegal confirmed the existence of cases of COVID-19 among pilgrims who returned from the Hajj procession to Mecca.

Senegalese authorities were able to confirm in the first instance, at Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International Airport, some 78 patients infected with the coronavirus.
The Minister of Health of the African country, said he was not surprised and that the responsibility lies with the pilgrims, because they were warned to use masks and apply social distancing, in addition to the typical hygiene measures.
According to local sources, the Senegalese health authorities already initiated processes of isolation of cases and treatment of patients.
On the other hand, Saudi authorities reported some 1300 dead during the Hajj pilgrimage, due to extreme temperatures and the proliferation of diseases and infections.
Many of the faithful participants were piled up, some of them without fulfilling measures of social distancing and crowds prone to creating stampedes.
From Senegal alone, some 12,900 Muslim worshippers attended. While in the rest of Arab countries, almost 2 million attendees were counted.
