Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has sent a clear and strong message to President-elect Donald Trump in a letter addressing issues critical to the bilateral relationship between the two countries. At a time when trade and migration tensions are palpable, Sheinbaum has urged Trump to reconsider the economic blockades imposed on Cuba and Venezuela, arguing that these measures have significant social and humanitarian consequences.
In her letter, Sheinbaum emphasized that “it is not with threats or tariffs that the migratory phenomenon or drug consumption in the U.S. will be addressed,” echoing her commitment to a human rights approach in managing migration.
