«More than 32 civilians were killed in this attack and 63 others were injured, some of them seriously», police spokesman Abdifatah Adan Hassan told the press.

The terrorist action claimed by the jihadist group Al Shabab occurred on Friday when an armed man fired at a group of people on the beach of Lido near the capital of the country african.

In the evening hours of Friday a suspected terrorist detonated a bomb at the Beach View hotel, which is often visited by government officials.

Following the attacks, there was a clash between terrorists and security forces, including the Army and police special forces that stretched into the hours after midnight.

The Somali police reported the death of six members of the jihadist group Al Shabab involved in attacks on a beach near the city of Mogadishu.

Hospitals in Mogadishu and the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) have been calling for blood donations to treat the wounded.

Images spread by Somali social media showed ambulances heading to the site of the attacks, as well as dozens of people lying on the beach.

The attacks came after months of relative calm in which the Somali capital has not been attacked by the Al Shabab group.

Somalia has intensified military operations against terrorists since the country’s president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, announced in August 2022 a «total war» against the group.

The Somali Army, supported by the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), has conducted counter-terrorism operations, sometimes with the military collaboration of the United States and Turkey in aerial bombardments.
