Admiral Holsey’s official agenda began around 10:00 a.m. local time with activities at the Libertador Building, where he was received with honors by Defense Minister Luis Petri and Brigadier General Xavier Isaac, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Later, around 11:00 a.m., he headed to the Pink House, the seat of the Argentine government, to hold a meeting with President Javier Milei.

Although no information has been released about the meetings, the U.S. Embassy in Argentina stated in advance that Holsey’s visit would focus on “reinforcing the long-standing military collaboration” between both nations “with the goal of strengthening regional security and advancing shared interests.”

“With over two centuries of diplomatic ties, the U.S. and Argentina continue to strengthen their political, security, economic, and cultural relations, reaffirming Argentina as a trusted regional partner in promoting democracy, security, and prosperity,” the U.S. Embassy said on April 25.

The U.S. Navy admiral will also visit the Argentine naval base in Ushuaia, the capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and South Atlantic Islands, where he will meet with local military personnel to learn more about their missions and the role they play in protecting maritime routes vital to global trade.

This is the Integrated Naval Base Ushuaia, whose construction began in 2022 with the aim of strengthening national presence, and where Argentina’s three Armed Forces will work together to improve connectivity with Antarctica.
