Sudan: +100 Killed in Paramilitary Forces Attack on Village

The RSF started its raid on Wednesday, using light and medium weapons, following two days of siege, an eyewitness from the village told Xinhua, adding that the closure of main roads had hindered the transport of the wounded to nearby hospitals.
On Thursday, a local neighborhood group “the resistance committee” said that more than 100 people were killed in an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a village in central Sudan’s Gezira State.

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has yet to respond. Still, the RSF said in a statement that its fighters attacked a group of Mustanfareen, meaning “the popular resistance” fighting alongside the Sudanese army in the area.
The death toll could increase “considering large numbers of wounded people, with some seriously injured” in the attack took place in the Wad Al-Noura village, said the resistance committee from the state capital Wad Madani in a statement.

In a statement on Thursday, Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council accused the RSF of committing a “massacre” in Wad Al-Noura village, which falls in “the systematic behavior of targeting civilians, looting their property, and forcibly displacing them from their areas.”
Sudan has been witnessing deadly clashes between the SAF and the RSF across the country since April 15, 2023.
The deadly clashes have so far claimed 15,550 lives and displaced over 8.8 million people nationwide, according to recent estimates by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, which did not include Thursday’s attack.
