However, this claim contrasts with reports from the North Darfur Ministry of Health, which denounced an RSF drone attack on the Al Fasher hospital that resulted in the deaths of nine civilians and injuries to more than twenty others.

The Sudanese Army reported on Saturday that it had repelled a “large-scale attack” carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state. According to the military statement, successful airstrikes resulted in the destruction of 45 combat vehicles and caused the deaths of “dozens” of attackers, including RSF commander Brigadier General Juma Idris.

However, this claim contrasts with reports from the North Darfur Ministry of Health, which denounced an RSF drone attack on the Al Fasher hospital that resulted in the deaths of nine civilians and injuries to more than twenty others. This attack underscores the grave humanitarian situation in the region, where clashes between the RSF and regular army forces have continued since April 2023.

The RSF controls much of Darfur, except for Al Fasher, which has become the last stronghold of the army in the west of the country. Since May, this city has been under siege by paramilitaries and has witnessed intense attacks with heavy weapons against residential neighborhoods, markets, and internally displaced persons camps. The violence has left tens of thousands dead and has triggered an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

According to United Nations estimates, around 14 million people have been displaced due to the conflict, with more than three million seeking refuge in neighboring countries. This situation not only represents a humanitarian tragedy for Sudan but also raises serious concerns about regional stability and international security.

It is crucial for the international community to take urgent action to address this crisis. The protection of civilians must be an absolute priority, and mechanisms should be established to ensure humanitarian access to those who desperately need it. Additionally, sustainable political solutions must be sought to end this endless cycle of violence.

The struggle of the Sudanese people for peace and justice must be supported by all who advocate for human rights and dignity. In this critical context, it is vital to amplify the voices of those suffering from the consequences of conflict and work towards a future where everyone can live without fear or oppression.
