“At around 19.35 this afternoon (16.35 GMT), the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the northern direction of Lebanon, which targeted a number of points in the central region,” the government department said in a statement, Quoting an unidentified military source.

According to the note, the anti-aircraft defenses of the Arab country were able to shoot down some of the shells, while those that managed to impact injured at least seven civilians and caused a number of material damages.

The ministry did not specify which areas were attacked, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the bombing hit warehouses in Hama and facilities in Homs allied with the Lebanese resistance Hezbollah.

The UK-based NGO, a large network of field partners, said in a statement that there were strong smoke columns rising from the sites.

Although it has done so frequently before and does not usually assume responsibility, Israel has intensified its air strikes against Syrian territory since the beginning of the genocidal aggression in Gaza last October.

These actions are often directed against targets of the resistance militias present in Syria as allies of Damascus, including Hezbollah, against which the Jewish state has also been fighting on Lebanese territory for more than ten months.
