A first detachment of 400 Kenyan troops arrived on 25 June, but the Caribbean nations that are closer to Haiti and committed to the security support mission have yet to disembark here, and the reasons for their delay are not yet known.

This operation came a day after a second contingent of Kenyan police arrived in Haiti, accompanied by at least eight of the new armoured vehicles

Recently, the AGD reported that a shipment of arms seized here came from the United States, a country considered to be one of those responsible for the trafficking of these weapons in the Caribbean country.

Such chaos has prompted the speedy mobilization of a multinational contingent, supposedly led by Kenya, whose men should be in Haiti before the end of June, but the African nation claims that logistical details are lacking to disembark its troops.

Police-supporting villagers were marching alongside an armored car on 11 June and when they least expected it, a hail of automatic weapons fire left a bloodbath in the village of Delmas 24.

The raid took place in the province of Las Guayas, where a “narco-fiesta” of great proportions was celebrated.
