Anonymous Announced the Attack on the Venezuelan Electrical System

In early August, it declared a “cyber war” against the Venezuelan state and its institutions.
On April 7, the international hacker group calling itself “Anonymous” warned that it would be involved in an attack on Venezuela’s national electrical system.

“We apologize to the people of Venezuela for the attack that the national electrical system will receive,” the hackers said through the @Anonymouscolect account.
On August 30, the Venezuelan national electrical system was sabotaged in the early hours of the morning, which caused the total or partial suspension of electrical service in the capital city of Caracas and 23 states across this South American country.
Previously, during the 2024 presidential election process, the hackers had announced that they would “go all out” against President Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan government. They declared that they had initiated a “cyber war” against the Venezuelan state and its institutions, admitting that they would focus on the databases and official websites of the Maduro administration, as well as the bank accounts and profiles of high-ranking Bolivarian officials.
“These hackers claimed responsibility for sabotaging over 325 institutional portals, including those of the Presidency of the Republic, the National Assembly, the political-military police, and the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM),” according to the newspaper El Mundo.
