In a significant step towards media cooperation, the information multiplatform teleSUR signed a collaboration agreement with the Brazilian channel TVT this Tuesday during the Global South Media Summit, held in Sao Paulo. This agreement aims to formalize and strengthen the exchange of content and productions between both platforms.

The agreement was signed by Patricia Villegas, president of teleSUR, and Mauricio Junior, president of TVT. Both leaders highlighted the importance of this alliance in promoting informational diversity and disseminating relevant cultural content in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Mauricio Junior expressed that this collaboration reinforces a bond that has lasted for over ten years. “Today we reaffirm a fundamental link with teleSUR, allowing us to exchange content and tell the stories of our peoples,” he stated.

He also emphasized that the agreement represents a crucial advance in democratizing communication and offering a narrative that reflects Latin American identity, breaking away from media hegemony.

For her part, Patricia Villegas, president of teleSUR, used her account on the social network X to highlight TVT’s commitment and that of the media outlet Brasil de Fato to continue working together. “It has been an intense and productive agenda. We keep moving forward without pause,” she wrote.

TVT is a non-profit channel that identifies itself as a medium for Brazilian workers, reaching an audience of over 13 million people in Sao Paulo. Its mission is to promote democracy, citizenship, and public interest.

Brasil de Fato, on the other hand, has been operating for over a decade as a print and digital media outlet, also having a radio agency and regional newspapers in several states in Brazil.

During the Global South Media Summit, teleSUR emphasized the need to create Latin American platforms that offer truthful and timely information, free from the interests of hegemonic media and social media algorithms. This collaboration between teleSUR and TVT is a step towards greater integration and strengthening of journalism in the region.
