The Israeli Genocide in Gaza Has Been Unpunished for a Year
Titled “A Year of Constant Siege in Palestine: How and When Will a Definitive Ceasefire Be Achieved?” teleSUR presents a special video that reviews the first year of one of the most violent episodes in the recent history of the Middle East.
The video provides a striking overview of the 12 months since October 7, 2023, after which Israel unleashed a new wave of violence against Palestinians living in Gaza. From that moment on, the Israeli siege of the Palestinian region, which had already been subjected to years of severe blockade, intensified to alarming levels, severely affecting the civilian population.
The images shown in this documentary have been shared by witnesses on social media and serve as raw evidence of the atrocities endured by the Palestinian people. Air, sea, and land bombings have destroyed hospitals, schools, and homes, leaving thousands dead and wounded, most of them women and children.
TeleSUR’s video highlights how Israeli occupation forces have left Gaza in ruins, while the international community has largely remained silent in the face of the ongoing genocide. The documentary also includes heart-wrenching testimonies from those who have lost their families. One of the most moving scenes shows rescuers pulling a young girl, the only survivor of her family, from the rubble.
“Where are the defenders of human rights? How is it possible that these violations continue with the complicity of major world powers? When will a definitive ceasefire be achieved? And what awaits the survivors of this year of brutality?” are some of the questions posed by the teleSUR video.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, the Israeli state has killed at least 42,000 Palestinians, 16,900 of whom were children. Israeli soldiers also killed 986 healthcare workers, 146 specialist doctors, and 130 scientists and university professors.
The indiscriminate Israeli bombings have also resulted in 17,000 orphans, 23 hospitals out of service, 130 administrative and academic facilities destroyed, 66 percent of buildings damaged, 52,564 buildings completely destroyed, and 68 percent of agricultural land destroyed, according to data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Gaza’s Health Ministry, and the United Nations
