‘The Venezuelan people and the Bolivarian government and forces stand with President Castro’, he stressed.
On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro rejected the attempted coup against Honduran President Xiomara Castro, stating that the destabilizing action is also aimed at the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

“I have been denouncing that the goal of the gringos is to destroy CELAC,” the Bolivarian leader said during the television program “With Maduro +.”
He then reminded that Castro is currently presiding over CELAC, an organization essential for the unity and independence of the region.
“The Venezuelan people and the Bolivarian government and forces stand with President Xiomara Castro and the Honduran popular forces,” Maduro stressed.
On Monday, the Bolivarian president also addressed the defiance against Venezuelan authorities by former presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, who is under an arrest warrant. “He thinks he is above the law… this coward dares to say he does not recognize our laws. That is unacceptable,” Maduro said.
Earlier, a court specialized in terrorism issued an arrest warrant against the far-right politician for the alleged crimes of usurpation of functions, forgery of public documents, incitement to disobey laws, conspiracy, sabotage of systems, and criminal association.
The Attorney General’s Office requested the Judiciary to issue the arrest warrant against Gonzalez, as the opposition leader failed to appear at three court summonses where he was expected to testify about his connection to the information published by a website through which his party, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), alleged the existence of supposed electoral fraud and refused to recognize the official results issued by the Venezuelan electoral authority.
