Shortly before voting, the candidate stated that Ecuador’s progressive forces are optimistic about the results of the 2025 elections.

“We are very happy and enthusiastic. We have every hope of reviving Ecuador. The Ecuadorian people will prevail! We have walked here with the hope of better days,” she said , urging citizens to monitor the election process to ensure that the people’s will is respected.

“They are the fear, we are the hope… We have the possibility of a great triumph and a great surprise today. It is time for the truth to overcome the lies that have oppressed us,” Gonzalez said, referring to the right-wing political forces and those who have governed Ecuador since 2017.

The text reads, “Presidential candidate Luisa Gonzalez denounced ‘irregularities’ throughout the electoral process in Ecuador by President Daniel Noboa.”

“Throughout her campaign, Gonzalez emphasized the importance of revitalizing education and employment in the country. In her speeches, she stressed that Ecuadorians’ talent must be supported with real opportunities for growth,” El Comercio recalled while covering her voting.

“In one of her statements, she declared: ‘We are going to revive education and employment! The talent is already there, and we will provide the opportunities. A country that invests in its people is a country that moves forward. No one will be left behind!’,” the newspaper added.

On Sunday, more than 13.7 million Ecuadorians will go to the polls to elect 151 legislators for the National Assembly, five representatives for the Andean Parliament, and the president and vice president of the Republic for the 2025-2029 term.

Although 16 politicians are running for the presidency, the two candidates with the best chances of winning or advancing to a second round are Luisa Gonzalez, a left-wing lawyer, and incumbent President Daniel Noboa, a right-wing businessman seeking re-election.
