Red caps, dances and high fists could be seen before midnight on the esplanade that covers the front of the Miraflores Palace. Naby Bermudez, one of the women who marched to the main call of Chavismo told teleSUR about her experience inside the polling station: “There were moments of queuing, of joy, of uncertainty in some moments.”

He also stressed that the feeling was that we were “voting for peace” and continuing to “recover in the economy, public health, public education and have a better salary.”

In the same vein, Andrés Toro spoke, who was coming close to bringing his campaign process to a close. He expects the day to be sealed with “the triumph of the Bolivarian Revolution”, and pointed out that “The population is giving it a push to continue deepening what are the measures against the foreign empire that wants to crush us and take away resources”.

For the moment, the National Electoral Council expects an irreversible trend before giving results and the government is cautiously waiting for official results to be expressed. Meanwhile, the election day has been uneventful, no complaints were reported and the eye of international observers has given the day its approval.

Damaris Hoyo, one of the observers who attended the elections and attended the official call, made a strong statement on this subject: “There is no possibility of fraud or anything like that. In a festive atmosphere. I see them very calm from both sides and very excited about the result.”

The vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, said in front of the crowd: “Today, with the victory of peace, Chávez wins, he wins the homeland, he wins the stability of the country, he wins the progress, he wins the equality among the Venezuelans, Win prosperity for each and every one of us. Good times are coming for Venezuela.”
