“They Will Not Go Back” Says Honduran President to Right-Wing Politicians

In front of a crowd that gathered in Tegucigalpa as a gesture of support and rejection to coup attempts, the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, delivered a strong speech in which he stressed the importance of democratic defense and highlighted the achievements of his administration to date.

“We beat them in the streets and beat them at the polls, and we will defeat them again at the polls,” proclaimed the president, Emphasizing the popular resistance that has marked its mandate and its determination to maintain the course set by the democratic will of the Honduran people.

Castro invited the working class she represents to defend the Honduran democracy at the time she assured that 2025 presidential elections will “clean and transparent” reaffirming her commitment to electoral legitimacy and citizen participation.

About the coup attempts carried out by the United States, she stated that she will not allow a new coup d’état in the Central American country.

Castro also mentioned that more than one million farmers have received seeds and fertilizers thanks to the technological pole as part of efforts to improve agricultural production and ensure the food supply of rural populations.

About the health and education achievements, she mentioned that more than one million children now have free access to education and numerous health facilities are being repaired across the country.

In this regard, Castro announced the distribution of more than one thousand Scholarships and support to youth to access sports facilities, seeking to strengthen the integral development of new generations in Honduras.
