“In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service” at the time the App thanked “President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive.”
According to the addition, they will work with the future president on a long-term solution that allows its operation in the United States.
TikTok stopped functioning on Saturday in the United States after the Supreme Court upheld a law passed last year by Congress that required the platform to dissociate from its parent company, the Chinese ByteDance, or face shutdown.
TikTok’s decision was implemented approximately an hour and a half before the law was set to take effect at 12:01 AM on Sunday, Eastern Time (6:01 AM GMT).
According to the government of outgoing President Joe Biden, TikTok took this step on its own initiative, as after the Supreme Court ruling, the White House announced that the current administration would not enforce the regulations and that its enforcement would be left to the new administration.
Trump stated on Sunday that he would issue an executive order on his first day in office to temporarily allow TikTok to continue operating and added that he would like the United States to take a partial ownership stake.
“I would like the United States to have a 50% stake in a joint venture. By doing this, we save TikTok, keep it in good hands, and allow it to continue growing. Without U.S. approval, there is no TikTok. With our approval, it’s worth hundreds of billions of dollars, maybe trillions,” he wrote on his social network, Truth Social.
