Trump continues to lead following the announcement of the first electoral results by state.
The former president and Republican candidate has 101 electoral votes in his favor, having won the majority of votes in Indiana (11), Kentucky (8), West Virginia (4), Tennessee (11), Mississippi (6), Alabama (9), Florida (30), South Carolina (9), Oklahoma (7), Arkansas (6), South Dakota (3), Nebraska (2), Wyoming (3), Louisiana (8), and Texas (40).
Meanwhile, the current vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, has only accumulated 71 electoral votes after winning the majority of votes in Vermont (3), Massachusetts (11), Connecticut (7), Rhode Island (4), Maryland (10), New Jersey (14), Illinois (19), Delaware (3), and New York (28).
It is worth clarifying that although states are shown in blue (Democrat) or red (Republican), this does not mean that all votes from that state went to that party. Additionally, lighter shades of each party’s colors indicate a trend in favor of the displayed color; however, this does not mean that this is the party that will win that state.
