This Monday, a devastating fire at a private addiction rehabilitation center in San Miguel Topilejo, south of Mexico City, resulted in a tragic toll of at least six deaths and several injuries, according to local authorities.
The mayor of Tlalpan, Gabriela Osorio, confirmed through her X account that the fire has been brought under control and that necessary measures are being taken to support those affected.

The incident occurred in the morning, and the emergency response was immediate. Paramedics, members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, Civil Protection, and the fire department were mobilized to the scene to address the situation.

According to reports, the paramedics treated a total of 11 people, five of whom were declared dead due to smoke inhalation.

The Tlalpan Mayor’s Office has assured that it will work in coordination with the Mexico City Government to provide the necessary support to the victims’ families and to closely monitor the condition of the injured.

Meanwhile, the local Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the fire and determine responsibility.
