USAID has also funded organizations and projects involved in the destabilization of foreign governments.

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump accused media outlets such as Politico of receiving millions of dollars from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as payment for favorable coverage of the Democrats.

“Looks like billions of dollars have been stolen at USAID and other agencies, much of it going to the fake news media as a ‘payoff’ for creating good stories about the Democrats,” he said.

“The left-wing ‘rag’ known as Politico seems to have received $8,000,000. Did The New York Times receive money??? Who else did???”

“This could be the biggest scandal of them all, perhaps the biggest in history! The Democrats can’t hide from this one. Too big, too dirty!” Trump emphasized.

On Monday, USAID’s offices in Washington were closed, and its activities were suspended after billionaire Elon Musk—tasked with reforming and streamlining the government—announced that Trump had agreed to dismantle the agency.

Founded in 1963, USAID was a government agency with nearly 10,000 employees and a budget of US$50 billion in 2023. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as its interim director.

In recent days, the Trump administration revealed that USAID had funded organizations and projects involved in the destabilization of foreign governments.
