“The Trump administration has told European officials that it wants to secure a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter, according to people briefed on the conversations,” Bloomberg said in an article published on Sunay.

Another non revealed sources told the company media that the negotiations that will begin this week in Saudi Arabia, with the participation of senior US and Russian officials, is ambitious and unrealistic, as other source noted that a settlement by the end of this year is a much more likely scenario.

Last week, Donald Trump launched his peace initiative with a phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin and surprised European officials when his Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, said that the Europeans would be responsible for the security guarantees and peacekeeping forces necessary to ensure the security of Ukraine once an agreement is reached.

The agency reports that European officials are preparing a large package to increase defense spending and support Kiev but that details will be announced after the German elections on 23 February to avoid controversy.

This year’s Eastern coincide with the date of celebration in Orthodox Christians, Greek Catholics and Roman Catholics on April 20.

EU leaders will meet in Paris on 17 February to discuss the response to the US position on Ukraine and the talks will focus on ensuring that Europe is involved in peace negotiations.

On the other hand, representatives of Trump will travel to Saudi Arabia on February 16 to dialogue with Russia. The US has consulted Europe on the necessary security guarantees for Ukraine.
