Miran a Biden’s economic administration critic, is a current member of the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, has also closed ranks against the performance of Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell.
Trump announced the appointment in his Truth Social network, saying Stepehen Miran will work with the rest of my Economic Team to deliver a Great Economic Boom that lifts up all Americans.”
For his part, Miran said to be “honored” by Trump’s pick, and said he will “look forward to working to help implement the President’s policy agenda to create a booming, noninflationary economy that brings prosperity to all Americans!”
Miran also was senior advisor for economic policy at the Treasury Department during Trump’s first term. Last July, Miran and Nouriel Roubini published a paper accusing the administration of manipulating debt markets and “usurping” a core function of the Federal Reserve to hold down long-term interest rates ahead of the election, allegations which were vehemently denied by the Treasury.
