“The Biden/Harris Administration did not protect me adequately, and I was forced to take a bullet for democracy. It was a great honor to do so,” he said through his Truth Social network.

His statements came after the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who left her position 10 days after the attempted assassination of Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

She was under enormous political pressure after admitting that the assassination attempt on the former president was the “greatest operational failure” of the agency in decades.

The text reads, “Look at this! They had to subpoena Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify about the assassination attempt on Trump. The one asking the questions is Representative Nancy Mace. She is very strong and direct!

Cheatle took “full responsibility” for her agency’s security lapse and assured that she is cooperating with ongoing investigations into the attack.

Previously, Republicans had called for Cheatle’s resignation, as her agency was directly in charge of Trump’s security during his presidency from 2017 to 2021.

The conservative politician was shot in the ear by an amateur shooter who had climbed onto a roof about 140 meters from the former president.
