Tunisia-Libya: Border Crossing Reopens After 3 Months of Closure

During the reopening ceremony of the passage between the two countries, which was held at the Ras Jedir crossing point, the Tunisian minister stressed the long-standing bilateral relations between Tunisia and Libya and the rooted relationships that unite the two brotherly peoples.
On Monday, the Tunisia-Libya border at the Ras Jedir crossing point in southeastern Tunisia reopened after a closure of more than three months.

“Tunisian Interior Minister Khaled Nouri and his Libyan counterpart Emad al-Tarabelsi supervised the reopening of the Ras Jedir crossing point to travelers,” said a statement released by the Tunisian Interior Ministry.
During the reopening ceremony of the passage between the two countries, which was held at the Ras Jedir crossing point, the Tunisian minister stressed the long-standing bilateral relations between Tunisia and Libya and the rooted relationships that unite the two brotherly peoples.
Nouri pointed out that the reopening of the crossing point would serve the common interest between the two sides, stressing that the necessary measures had been taken to facilitate the crossing of travelers.
For his part, the Libyan interior minister stressed his country’s determination to overcome all difficulties to continue the passage of travelers between the two countries through this crossing.
On March 19, 2024, the Libyan Interior Ministry announced the closure of the Ras Jedir border crossing with Tunisia after an attack by a “criminal group.”
Ras Jedir is located about 600 kilometers southeast of the Tunisian capital Tunis. It is considered one of the most important border crossing points between the two countries.
