“We do not accept the sanctions against Russia… We do not believe they are right,” he stated during a speech before the Russian Federal Assembly in Moscow.

“Unilateral sanctions have not achieved the expected goals. It is clear that in the end, an alternative has been found. We believe that Russia will also find alternative ways,” Kurtulmus added.

The Turkish legislator described the war in Ukraine as a “regional crisis” and emphasized the importance of Moscow’s participation in peace negotiations.

The text reads, “According to Ray Dalio, an international financial advisor, in the next decade, 6 out of 10 countries with the highest economic growth will belong to the BRICS. The transition to an alternative multipolar world order continues on its course. The West and the G7 are no longer the hegemons.”

During his visit to the Russian Federal Assembly, Kurtulmus also highlighted Türkiye’s interest in joining BRICS, the economic cooperation group founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

“We see the upcoming BRICS meeting as an important step in the new order being established in this multipolar world. Türkiye’s accession to BRICS is a new argument that will strengthen its power in foreign policy,” the legislator declared.

The Russian government announced weeks ago that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the BRICS summit, which will be held in the Russian city of Kazan from October 22 to 24. In August, Azerbaijan also officially applied to join BRICS, a group that also includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
