Two Israeli Missiles Hit an UNRWA School in Gaza Killing Ten People

At least 10 people, including women and children, were killed and 20 others injured in a new Israeli attack with two missiles on the Abu Asi school, which housed hundreds of displaced persons, west of Gaza City, reported the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Wafa said this school, managed by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), has been bombed by the Israeli army on more than one occasion since the beginning of the war.

Abu Asi school is located in western Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp. Emergency and rescue teams are continuing to search for other missing persons.

UNICEF documented 64 Israeli attacks on schools in Gaza during October, many serving as shelters for displaced families.

The Palestinian news agency said witnesses reported that Israeli warplanes targeting the UNRWA school.

Israel passed two laws in parliament last October to ban UNRWA operations and close its office in East Jerusalem, claiming that the UN agency has links with Hamas.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education, since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, more than 400 educational establishments (including schools and universities) have been attacked and 77 of them completely destroyed.

In over a year of war, more than 43,700 people have been killed and more than 103,600 injured in the Palestinian enclave, according to the enclave’s health sources.
