This U.S.-based organization emphasized the urgent need for the Zionist entity to be held accountable and for the protection of those affected by the aggression and war crimes committed by Zionists.
They demanded the immediate and unconditional release of healthcare workers who have been detained in occupation prisons, stressing that their protection is mandated by international law. Additionally, they underscored the need to ensure unrestricted access to humanitarian, medical, and relief aid for all citizens in Gaza, as well as for the international missions operating there.
This appeal comes amidst escalating violence against Gaza, despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel. In the past 24 hours, Israel intensified its bombings, which resulted in at least 80 deaths.
Since October, 2023, however, Israel has killed 46,707 civilians, injured 110,265 people, and caused the disappearance of at least 11,000 Palestinians, whose bodies are presumed to be under the rubble caused by bombings. As of December 2024, Israeli occupation forces had killed 1,068 doctors and healthcare workers, destroyed 76 healthcare facilities, and damaged 136 ambulances.
By that date, 12,650 Palestinians injured in Israeli attacks required travel abroad for treatment, while 12,500 cancer patients were at risk of dying due to a lack of medicine and medical care. Due to the medicine shortages caused by Israeli restrictions, 350,000 people with chronic illnesses were at risk.
Israel has not only bombed Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure—which, along with its personnel, is protected under international humanitarian law—but has also maintained a strict blockade to prevent the entry of food, medicine, and other vital supplies, intending to decimate Gazans through starvation and disease.
Physicians Against Genocide seeks to raise awareness about these issues and advocate for human rights protections in conflict zones, urging international organizations to take action to safeguard vulnerable populations.
