Ukraine Accepts U.S Proposal to Declare 30-Day Ceasefire With Russia

The Ukraine-U.S. agreement was announced in a joint statement after their respective delegations met in Saudi Arabia.
On Tuesday, Ukraine accepted a U.S. proposal for both sides to declare an immediate 30-day ceasefire, which will now be presented to Moscow.

Washington also committed to resuming military aid and intelligence support to Ukraine following President Donald Trump’s decision to halt the flow of weapons and intelligence as a means of pressuring Kyiv into negotiating a ceasefire with Russia.
The agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. was announced in a joint statement signed by both parties after their respective delegations met on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
It also highlights the importance of taking humanitarian measures during the proposed ceasefire, such as the exchange of war prisoners and the release of detained civilians. Both delegations also agreed to appoint their respective teams of negotiators for a peace process with Russia.
Additionally, Washington and Kyiv pledged to sign “as soon as possible” an agreement for the joint exploitation of Ukraine’s mineral resources, which is expected to “expand Ukraine’s economy,” provide the Ukrainian nation with “long-term prosperity and security guarantees,” and allow the U.S. to recover the money spent on supporting Ukraine during this war.
