Ukrainian Attacks in Russia’s Kursk Region Leave 5 Dead

Currently, Russian forces are conducting operations in the Sudzha district pushing troops away from the Russian border.

So far, five people have been killed and some others injured as a result of the Ukrainian attacks in Russia’s Kursk region, which began on Tuesday.

Andrei Belostotsky, the acting deputy governor of the Kursk region, confirmed that no deaths have been reported among hospitalized patients that were wounded in the attack.

On Tuesday morning, Ukraine launched a massive attack on the Russian defense positions in Kursk. Up to 300 Ukrainian soldiers, supported by 11 tanks and over 20 armored combat vehicles, attacked the Russian border defense positions near the settlements of Nikolaevo-Daryino and Oleshnya.

Currently, Russian forces are “conducting active operations in the Sudzha district” pushing troops away from the Russian border, Kursk acting deputy governor said.

On Thursday, the Russian military used Su-34 fighter-bombers to strike at the positions of Ukrainian units that crossed the border and entered the Kursk region. The Su-34s used FAB-500 aerial bombs to launch precise strikes from a safe distance from the combat zone.

The Sever group attacked the positions of six Ukrainian mechanized brigades in Kursk and the neighboring regions of Kharkiv and Sumi. These attacks left 415 Ukrainian army casualties and destroyed four tanks, about thirty armored vehicles and military vehicles, and two electronic warfare stations.

Alexei Smirnov, the acting governor of the Kursk region, reported that Russian air defenses shot down two Ukrainian missiles over the region. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Ukrainian incursion in the region a “large-scale provocation.”
