UNICEF specified that since the truce came into effect in Lebanon, 23 children have lost their lives and 93 others sustained injuries, demonstrating Israel’s constant disregard for diplomatic commitments.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported on May 14 that Israeli attacks have led to the deaths of at least 200 children in Lebanon, while 806 other minors suffered injuries. These figures indicate that 14 children are killed or wounded daily by the occupation army.
The international agency highlighted that Lebanese children are bearing the brunt of this conflict, enduring forced displacement and persistent exposure to traumatic experiences that jeopardize their well-being and future prospects.

UNICEF further specified that since the April 17 ceasefire took effect, 23 children have perished and 93 sustained injuries, underscoring Tel Aviv’s consistent violation of diplomatic agreements. The organization also raised alarm about a growing mental health crisis affecting approximately 770,000 children, who suffer psychological sequelae from the loss of family members and the destruction of their homes.
Edward Beigbeder, the agency’s regional director, affirmed that the relentless bombings inflict devastating and lifelong scars on the survivors. In this sense, the international organization warned that Lebanese children are paying the highest price in this conflict, facing forced displacement and constant exposure to traumatic situations that compromise their future.
Moreover, the Israeli military offensive has resulted in the destruction or severe damage to nearly 300,000 homes across Lebanon, according to updated figures from the country’s National Council for Scientific Research. The organization detailed that 230,436 units were impacted during the 2023-2024 conflict, with an additional 61,056 homes affected exclusively between March 2 and May 8, 2026. This systematic destruction has reduced entire communities to rubble, particularly in southern Lebanon and Beirut’s urban areas, making immediate return impossible for thousands of displaced families, including children growing up without secure homes.
A geographical report places the Nabatiyeh district, located in southern Lebanon, as the epicenter of recent devastation, with 33,930 homes impacted, followed by the Southern District and the capital’s metropolitan area. Satellite images confirm that the occupation army has extended its demolition radius beyond the Litani River, employing a strategy of large-scale destruction similar to that executed in the Gaza Strip. Experts suggest that Tel Aviv utilizes this tactic to render extensive areas uninhabitable, forcing prolonged displacement and impeding any national reconstruction efforts.
Amid this grim scenario, a new Israeli attack claimed the lives of at least 13 people this Wednesday, approximately half of whom were children, bringing the total to 25 fatalities in less than 24 hours. These aggressions occurred just hours before a round of talks in Washington aimed at negotiating a truce, which the Government of Israel consistently violates.
Faced with the gravity of these events, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres demanded full adherence to the ceasefire, as Lebanon confronts a monumental challenge to rebuild its civilian infrastructure amidst a socio-economic crisis exacerbated by the Zionist violence.
