In a controversial move that has sparked international outrage, the U.S. government, under the administration of Donald Trump, has approved a new arms sale to the Zionist entity of “Israel” worth nearly three billion dollars.
This sale includes, among other weapons, two-thousand-pound bombs, similar to those previously used in attacks against civilian populations in Gaza, which human rights organizations have labeled as genocide.
The State Department, led by Secretary Marco Rubio, justified this sale under the argument of “national security interests” and a supposed “emergency,” allowing it to bypass the routine reviews typically applied to foreign military support plans.
According to the AP news agency, the notifications sent to Congress detail the sale of over 35,500 MK 84 and BLU-117 bombs, along with four thousand Predator warheads, for a total value of 2.04 billion dollars.
Additionally, Rubio authorized another munitions sale worth 675.7 million dollars, scheduled for delivery starting in 2028, and an emergency sale of Caterpillar D9R and D9T bulldozers, valued at 295 million dollars.
These machines, used in military and demolition operations, have previously been employed in the destruction of Palestinian homes in occupied territories.
The two-thousand-pound bombs, in particular, are notorious for their destructive capacity and indiscriminate use in densely populated areas, such as Gaza, where they have caused countless civilian casualties.
While the U.S. government insists on protecting its “strategic interests,” the international community demands accountability and an end to the sale of weapons that fuel conflicts and human rights violations.
The delivery of these weapons, scheduled to begin next year, could represent a new chapter in the escalation of violence that has marked the region for decades, as the world watches with concern the humanitarian impact these decisions will have on Gaza and other occupied territories.
