The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has confirmed that Israel has rejected most attempts by humanitarian organizations to deliver essential supplies to the Gaza Strip, which is on the brink of an unprecedented famine.
In a statement, the UN agency highlighted that the situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating as violent hostilities continue into their second week.
“Essential supplies are running low, and some will only last a few more days unless shipments into the Strip resume,” the statement warned. It emphasized that most “attempts by humanitarian organizations to coordinate access with the Israeli authorities are being rejected.”
UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna described the conditions in Gaza as a “near-total collapse in all aspects of life.” He underscored the urgent need for a ceasefire and the entry of thousands of trucks carrying aid, stating that failure to do so would be “a death sentence for the place, the infrastructure, and the people.”
The ongoing conflict has exacerbated an already dire humanitarian situation, leaving many residents without access to food, water, and medical care. The international community continues to call for immediate action to address the crisis and provide relief to those affected.
