Pope Francis Sends His First Message from the Hospital: Thanks the Faithful for Their Prayers

The Holy See Press Office has provided an update on the health of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic since February 14.

In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, it was reported that the Pope continues to receive high-flow oxygen therapy and has been participating in spiritual exercises via video from the Paul VI Hall. Additionally, he has devoted time to prayer and has received the Eucharist.

Although the pontiff’s clinical condition remains stable, doctors have noted slight improvements while cautioning that his situation remains complex. This news has been met with joy by the faithful gathered outside the hospital to pray for his recovery.

A local resident, identified as Rosa, expressed her satisfaction with the positive updates, stating that they are “wonderful not only for her but for the entire world.”

It is worth noting that a new medical evaluation is expected on March 12, which could provide further details about his condition. In this context, the Holy See has decided to suspend the distribution of the usual catechesis for the General Audience this week, as the Pope is immersed in his spiritual exercises.

The Catholic community and the Pope’s followers continue to await his swift recovery with hope and prayer, while doctors maintain a cautious prognosis regarding his health.
