Uruguay Holds Elections with High Voter Turnout

A total of 2,727,120 Uruguayans were eligible to vote in the national elections, while 2,726,777 were authorized to participate in the accompanying plebiscite.

On Sunday, October 27, Uruguay conducted elections to select its president, vice president, and members of Parliament.

 According to the Electoral Court, 88.1% of eligible citizens cast their votes across 7,234 polling stations, with participation in Montevideo slightly lower at 86.8%.

A total of 2,727,120 Uruguayans were eligible to vote in the national elections, while 2,726,777 were authorized to participate in the accompanying plebiscite.

 Eleven political parties contested in this election.
