During a meeting held in Baku, the Second Vice President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, América Pérez, met with the Chairwoman of Azerbaijan’s National Parliament, Sahibə Qafarova. The encounter not only commemorated 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations but also laid the groundwork for deeper future collaboration across multiple fields.
The parliamentarians emphasized the importance of strengthening political and legislative exchanges as key pillars for bilateral development. In a global context where international cooperation is more critical than ever, both parties discussed their roles within organizations like the United Nations (UN) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), underscoring the need for a unified voice on global issues.
Pérez expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s warm hospitality and highlighted the importance of elevating economic ties, which could bring mutual benefits and foster development in both countries. Qafarova, in turn, acknowledged Venezuela’s steadfast support for Azerbaijani initiatives during its NAM presidency, reflecting aligned political objectives.
The discussions also addressed pressing global challenges, such as the climate crisis impacting developing nations. Azerbaijan’s recent designation as host of COP29 was noted as recognition of its leadership on environmental issues—an increasingly critical topic on the international agenda.
