Venezuela and Vietnam Seek to Increase Their Trade Exchange

During their meeting, both senior officials confirmed that their countries seek to increase trade exchange, based on the agreements signed last April in areas such as energy and construction.
Rodriguez and Vu agreed to promote economic ties and joint projects “to consider the potential of each,” while reviewing the bilateral work developed on investments in oil, gas and construction.
In April, the government of President Nicolas Maduro agreed with Vietnam “several mutual understandings and reciprocal support that have been a basis for both countries to cultivate their relations and contribute to the development of each, for the benefit of both peoples.”
Among the agreements mentioned is the creation of a joint venture for glass production, as well as a work plan that includes cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela in agricultural production, “to promote and develop training, research and technical-scientific and technological support in this area.”
In addition, the state oil companies of both countries also signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of petrochemicals “of great importance” and another document in which they committed to the development of telecommunications in the Caribbean country.
