‘We’ll be waiting for you here with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces,’ National Assembly President Rodriguez said.

On Tuesday, the Venezuelan National Assembly declared former Colombian presidents Alvaro Uribe and Ivan Duque as “public and despicable enemies” for recently advocating an international military intervention against the Caribbean nation.

“Alvaro Uribe, Leopoldo Lopez, Ivan Duque… we’ll be waiting for you here with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, with the people of Venezuela, with our police forces, and above all, with our honesty and decency,” said the National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez.

The Bolivarian legislator labeled former president Uribe as a “paramilitary, terrorist, drug trafficker, fascist, murderer, criminal, and rat,” while adding that he lacks the courage Venezuelans possess.

Opposition lawmaker Alfonso Campos supported the proposal to declare Uribe and Duque public enemies, emphasizing that their calls for military intervention are “contemptible.”

“Although we oppose certain policies, we will never accept such comments, let alone actions that undermine sovereignty and territorial integrity with the intention of invading the sacred soil of the republic,” he stated.

The legislative agreement declares Uribe and Duque as despicable public enemies of Venezuela for “being part of a systematic plan to undermine the sovereignty, peace, and self-determination of the Venezuelan people in their desperate attempt to militarily intervene in the Bolivarian homeland.”

On January 14, Uribe called for an international military intervention, endorsed by the United Nations, to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power. A day later, the Bolivarian leader ordered the Armed Forces and police forces to prepare to respond to the foreign threats.

“Let us take the criminal threats from the narco-paramilitary Alvaro Uribe and Ivan Duque seriously and prepare ourselves. Let’s ready our rifles because this sacred land will never accept the insolent boots of foreign paramilitaries or imperialists,” Maduro said in his annual message to the nation.

The Venezuelan president called on the military to continue implementing Rapid Reaction Units (URRAS) and special operations, as well as to closely monitor “all border crossings” in the country, which shares borders with Colombia and Brazil.
