The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, warned this Monday about what he considers an attempt to impose a fascist model in Latin America. During his speech on the anniversary of the collapse of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), Maduro recalled that 19 years ago, the agreements of the FTAA would have meant the “absolute destruction” of the continent’s economic apparatus.
The Venezuelan leader openly criticized leaders such as Javier Milei, president of Argentina, and Daniel Noboa, president of Ecuador, stating that their economic proposals align with a neocolonial model.
“The model they intend to impose, which seeks to destabilize Venezuela, is undoubtedly a fascist model,” he asserted during a message directed at social movements and the Central Workers’ Union of Argentina (CTA).

President Maduro made these statements in the context of the Anti-Fascist Parliamentary Forum, where he denounced that imperialism seeks to destabilize the region through aligned political figures. He assured that “the strength of the peoples will prevail” against these attempts at domination.
Furthermore, the Venezuelan president highlighted Caracas as the “capital of rebellion and struggle,” recalling Argentina’s historical role under Néstor Kirchner’s leadership in the fight for independence in Latin America. “It is an effort that must be maintained with the same intensity with which we achieved that great victory 19 years ago,” he emphasized.
President Maduro also evoked the 2005 Summit of the Americas, where Commander Hugo Chávez was a central figure in the resistance against neoliberalism. “The Giant Hugo Chávez, our father and teacher, has inspired generations of rebels and revolutionaries in our America and the world,” he stated.
The Venezuelan president concluded his speech by sending a message of support to social movements in Argentina, reaffirming his commitment to the struggle for solidarity and self-determination of peoples. “Argentina standing, Argentina in battle. Here is Venezuela, victorious and ready to face the challenges of the 21st century,” he declared.
