“What did you come to do here in Venezuela? What was your task? They don’t say that,” he emphasized, hinting that there might be more information that the Venezuelan government will reveal in the near future.

Diosdado Cabello assured that the chief officer of the Argentine Gendarmerie is being brought before the competent courts.

At a press conference held this Monday, Diosdado Cabello, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and minister of Internal Affairs, Justice, and Peace, confirmed the arrest of Nahuel Agustín Gallo, the chief officer of the Argentine Gendarmerie, who entered the South American country to fulfill an unspecified mission.

Cabello stated that Gallo is in the custody of Venezuelan authorities and that his case is being processed by the competent courts. “He is not in a secret military base as has been speculated, but he is guaranteed respect for his fundamental rights,” said the Venezuelan leader.

However, Cabello characterize the presence of the Argentine gendarme as part of a conspiracy attempt, suggesting that his mission was covert in nature.

The Venezuelan official questioned the lack of clarity from the Argentine government regarding the reasons behind Gallo’s presence in the country. “What did you come to do here in Venezuela? What was your task? They don’t say that,” he emphasized, hinting that there might be more information that the Venezuelan government will reveal in the near future.

The Argentine Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich, had previously expressed her concern about the gendarme’s arrest and threatened possible reprisals.

Cabello responded to these statements by urging the minister to reconsider her approach, suggesting that Argentina should direct its criticism toward Britain over the Malvinas dispute rather than threatening Venezuela. “Here in Venezuela, there is a justice system that truly works.

Whoever comes to conspire must take responsibility,” said Cabello, stressing the country’s sovereignty and independence.

He also noted that Argentina’s decision not to maintain diplomatic relations with Venezuela complicates communication and understanding between the two nations.

The arrest of the Argentine gendarme and Cabello’s statements have led to an increase in diplomatic tensions between Caracas and Buenos Aires.

This raises questions about the future of bilateral relations and the possibility of a peaceful resolution to this dispute. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan government continues to defend its position on national sovereignty and internal security against what it considers external threats.
