In this regard, he reaffirmed the Venezuelan policy that his country continues to defend its historical rights over the Esequibo, claiming that “today more than ever Venezuela is standing up, defending its territory, territorial integrity and its historical rights over the Esequibo”.

This ruling was intended to validate an agreement between the British Crown and the United States (USA) to “strip our country of its Essequibo territory” 125 years ago.

“A compromise between the British Crown and the United States of America to snatch and strip Venezuela of its territory, its legitimate rights over that territory. Venezuela was born as a republic with the territory of Guyana Esequiba. It has always belonged to Venezuela; the only one that has had and has legitimate titles over that territory is Venezuela”, emphasized Rodríguez in a video.

The minister for oil warned that today the government of Guyana, in a bargain with the British and the Americans, seek to validate it “to steal our immense energy riches in that territory”.

He also said that on December 3, Venezuela voted in the referendum to defend the territory of Guayana Esequiba under the 1966 Geneva Agreement.

In this connection, Chancellor Yvan Gil specified that on the occasion of the anniversary of the nefarious Paris Agreement, the “not only violated our territorial rights, but also highlighted the inequalities of the colonial system of the time, whose injustices have had sequels to the present day”.
