The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has expressed its willingness to provide assistance to Colombia in response to the serious climate emergency caused by intense rains that have affected 27 of the 32 departments of the neighboring country.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil communicated through his social media that, following instructions from President Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela is ready to offer “the necessary help that Colombia requires.” Gil emphasized that this assistance will focus on the most affected regions, such as La Guajira, Chocó, and Bogotá.

This announcement comes after the declaration of a natural disaster issued last Sunday by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who highlighted the climate vulnerability facing the country, exacerbated by factors such as deforestation and uncontrolled urbanization.

The situation in the department of Chocó is particularly critical, with approximately 30,000 families affected by the floods.
