This unfounded and arbitrary measure represents an act of hostility that contradicts the principles of international law.
On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump reintroduced Cuba to the U.S. list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism,” thereby reversing the decision made by former President Joe Biden less than a week ago to remove this Caribbean country from the list.

In response to this new arbitrary act of U.S. foreign policy, the government of President Nicolas Maduro issued the following statement:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the decision by the United States government to re-incorporate Cuba into the list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism. This unfounded and arbitrary measure represents an act of hostility that contradicts the principles of international law and undermines global efforts for peace and cooperation.
Accusing Cuba, a nation internationally recognized for its solidarity and humanitarian commitment, not only lacks foundation but also demonstrates the intention to reinstall policies of aggression and coercion that have marked the recent history of relations between the United States and Latin America.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly condemns this unjust act and calls on the peoples and governments of the world to denounce and clearly reject these kinds of decisions, which violate the principles of respect for sovereignty and seek to justify the inhumane blockade against the Cuban people.
Venezuela reaffirms its full solidarity with the people and government of Cuba, and ratifies its commitment to continue defending the dignity and self-determination of peoples in the face of any attempt at imperialist domination.”
