Venezuela Rejects G7 Statement and Reaffirms Its National Sovereignty
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela has issued a strong condemnation of the recent declarations by the Group of Seven (G7) regarding the country’s internal affairs, while also exposing what it calls the “treasonous actions” of opposition leader María Corina Machado.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil presented irrefutable evidence accusing Machado of aligning with foreign interests, including the G7 and Guyana, to undermine Venezuela’s sovereignty over the Esequibo region.
In a scathing statement, Gil denounced Machado for supporting illegal concessions granted to Exxon Mobil in undelimited waters claimed by Guyana, as well as endorsing the G7’s interventionist stance against Venezuela.
He labeled her actions as “shameless and criminal,” accusing her of prioritizing foreign and corporate interests over Venezuela’s territorial integrity. “María Corina Machado has proven herself to be a fascist without a homeland, willing to sell Venezuelan sovereignty for political backing,” Gil declared.
The Venezuelan government also rejected the G7’s call for the “restoration of democracy” in Venezuela, describing it as an arrogant and interventionist move. Gil emphasized that Venezuela will comprehensively review its relations with each G7 member nation, stating, “Respect for national sovereignty is non-negotiable.”
He reaffirmed Venezuela’s unwavering commitment to defending the Esequibo, stating, “The sun of Venezuela rises in the Esequibo, and no traitor will take away what rightfully belongs to us.”
Machado’s recent actions, including her gratitude to G7 foreign ministers for their support of Guyana’s claims, have drawn sharp criticism.
Gil accused her of legitimizing false accusations against Venezuela and dismissing the country’s legitimate naval actions as “threats.” This, he argued, exposes her as a tool of imperial interests seeking to destabilize Venezuela’s territorial integrity.
The controversy comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the G7 condemning Venezuela’s actions in the Esequibo and calling for “legitimate elections” in the country. U.S. Secretary of State Darvison Rojas Sánchez also weighed in, claiming that Nicolás Maduro did not win the last presidential elections and urging a political solution.
The Venezuelan government, however, remains steadfast in its defense of national sovereignty. Gil’s statements underscore the growing divide between the Bolivarian administration and opposition figures like Machado, whom he accuses of betraying the nation for personal and political gain.
“The defense of our homeland requires us to denounce and reject those who, like Machado, prioritize foreign agendas over the well-being and sovereignty of the Venezuelan people,” Gil concluded.
This latest development highlights Venezuela’s firm stance against external interference and its commitment to protecting its territorial and energy resources from neocolonial interests. As the situation unfolds, the Bolivarian government continues to rally its citizens in defense of the Esequibo and the nation’s sovereignty.
