“Venezuela rejects and protests the bellicose intentions of the Caribbean Zelensky, Irfaan Ali. Guyana threatens Venezuela with its founding fathers. The United Kingdom and the United States are the architects of the territorial dispossession of our Essequibo Guayana,” said the VP in her Telegram channel.
Rodriguez also stated that Ali and the UK representatives are “the same actors who in 1899 issued a fraudulent award to rob Venezuela.”
In this regard, the Vice President issued a warning to the Region against “these war drums,” in clear contravention of the CELAC Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
“Venezuela will be firm in the defense of its legitimate rights, sovereignty and territorial integrity, in all scenarios that arise. ¡ The sun of Venezuela is born in the Esequibo!” I reaffirm Delcy Rodriguez.
The Government of Guyana reported this Saturday that the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the UK Ministry of Defence signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between the former British colony and the Anglo-Saxon country.
Earlier this week, Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil, criticized the President of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, accusing him of despair and dishonesty in attempting to ignore the 1966 Geneva Agreement, which Venezuela regards as the only legitimate mechanism for resolving the territorial dispute over the Essequibo region.
Venezuela denounces Guyana for sabotaging the UN good offices process and exerting illegitimate pressure on the UN Secretariat to irregularly refer the dispute to the International Court of Justice, with the support of ExxonMobil, what Venezuela claims is a violation of the UN Charter.
