In a strong statement, the Government of Venezuela rejected the recent declaration issued by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), demanding respect for its institutions and democracy.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry characterized the statement as lacking support and objectivity, arguing that it reflects the subordination of High Commissioner Volker Turk to the interests of the “decadent American empire.” The criticism focuses on what the government perceives as a political and manipulated use of OHCHR as a tool for aggression against Venezuela.
The Executive noted that Turk has “blood on his hands” due to his alleged complicity in conflicts in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon, suggesting that his agenda aligns with sectors promoting chaos in the South American nation.

In this regard, the government defends its role as a guarantor of human rights, stressing that its institutions have acted with respect for the law and have provided procedural benefits to detainees.
Additionally, the Venezuelan executive criticized international laws that it argues attack its sovereignty, such as the NGO Law and the Law against the Imperialist Blockade, which it considers essential for protecting the country from destabilizing activities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains that OHCHR’s erratic and selective behavior disqualifies any claim to impartiality, reminding Turk that Venezuela will not accept interference disguised as concerns for human rights.
The response from the Venezuelan government reflects a foreign policy marked by a defense of its independence against foreign powers and their domestic accomplices. This statement reaffirms the country’s determination to confront any threat to its sovereignty and continue its struggle for peace and the well-being of the Venezuelan people.
In a context where international relations are increasingly complex and polarized, Venezuela’s position resonates as a call for self-determination and rejection of what it considers disguised interventionism.
