Venezuela Revokes Brazil’s Consent To Represent Diplomatic Interests of Argentina

Venezuela have revoked “immediately” the Brazil’s consent to represent the Argentina’s diplomatic interests and the custody of the premises of the diplomatic mission, including its properties and archives.

The government of the reelected president Nicolas Maduro demanded on July 29, the withdrawal of Argentina, immediately, of its representatives in Venezuelan territory in rejection of their actions and statements about the presidential elections held on July 28.

The Bolivarian government takes that decision “based on evidence of the use of the facilities of that diplomatic mission for the planning of terrorist activities and attempts to assassinate the Constitutional President of the Republic.”

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as the receiving State, takes this measure in accordance with and in full compliance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations,” the statement recalls.

On August 5, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil reported that the nation had signed an agreement with the Federative Republic of Brazil for the custody of the premises of the Diplomatic Missions of Argentina and Peru, including their property and archives, after the withdrawal of their diplomats from Venezuelan territory.
