Venezuela Seizes New Shipment of U.S. Military Equipment

It was intended to be used during the presidential elections held on July 28.
On Monday, Citizen Security Minister Diosdado Cabello confirmed that Venezuelan security forces seized military equipment from the U.S., adding to the previous confiscation of over 400 rifles on September 14.

Among the seized weapons are Kalashnikov rifles and other firearms from Century Arms, a company specialized in manufacturing replicas of the AK rifle. Authorities also confiscated an M4A1, an automatic assault rifle in carbine form, which is used exclusively by U.S. military forces.
The Citizen Security Minister highlighted that the shipment of weapons was intended to be used during Venezuela’s presidential elections held on July 28. He also revealed that the coup plotters had ties with a hacker mafia from Israel.
“We captured three individuals involved in grenade attacks. These criminals were linked to Jose Miguel Estrada, who is serving a sentence for the attempted assassination of President Nicolas Maduro,” he said.
“Fourteen gang leaders arrested are being interrogated because they planned to place explosives inside prisons,” Cabello said, and confirmed that Wilber Castañeda, an active U.S. military member, contacted a person linked to the criminal gang known as the Aragua Train.
“The weapons entered Venezuela from Colombia,” the Bolivarian Citizen Security Minister said, revealing that, before the elections, far-right coup plotters distributed pamphlets in Miami and Colombia, claiming they would seize the Venezuelan government heaquarters regardless of the election results.
On Monday night, President Nicolas Maduro said these events confirm previous accusations that Hector Guerrero (aka Niño), leader of the Aragua Train, is directly linked to the terrorist attacks. He also indicated that what Cabello has publicly presented “is not even 10 percent of the full evidence regarding the terrorist plans” that the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office already has in its possession.
