“During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast throughout India, where it is usually flown, and there will be no official entertainment. It has also been decided that a state funeral will be held for the late Dr. Manmohan Singh,” the Indian authorities said.
Born in 1932, Singh was a politician, economist, and academic who served as the 13th prime minister from 2004 to 2014. Once the news was spread internationally, the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sent its condolences to the Indian people and government for this unfortunate loss.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela deeply mourns the passing of Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of the Republic of India and a renowned architect and advocate of the economic reforms that significantly transformed the socioeconomic landscape of his nation, the Venezuelan government stated.
“During his lifetime, Singh left an indelible legacy as a visionary leader whose economic policies not only drove India’s development and modernization but also strengthened South-South cooperation, creating opportunities for fairer and more supportive exchanges among developing nations.”
“From Venezuela, we honor his commitment to progress, his fight for equity, and his exemplary dedication to serving his people. His vision of independent and sustainable development resonates with the ideals we uphold in our pursuit of social justice and economic sovereignty,” it added.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the people and government of India, as well as to the family and close associates of Dr. Manmohan Singh, in this moment of grief. In his memory, we reaffirm our commitment to continue building bridges of solidarity between our nations, inspired by his example of responsible and transformative leadership,” the Venezuelan government emphasized.
