Following the inauguration ceremony of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) conducted a powerful act of recognition, reaffirmation of loyalty, and oath-taking to the head of state. This event sent a resounding message of unity and fusion between the people, the military, and law enforcement to the world from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The organized militias also reiterated their unwavering loyalty to the re-elected President of Venezuela and took an oath of discipline, subordination, and allegiance.

Vladimir Padrino López, Minister of the People’s Power for Defense, emphasized that the Venezuelan people, and especially the FANB, have skillfully confronted the destabilizing schemes of the neofascist right wing, as well as economic sanctions imposed by powers seeking to install subservient governments in Venezuela and the entire region.

The high-ranking military official highlighted the recognition of the mandate of the vast majority of the Venezuelan people who, “in elections carried out with the highest standards of transparency, the assistance of international observers, and representatives of all registered candidates,” elected Nicolás Maduro Moros as their President.

Padrino swore that the troops of the Bolivarian Army, the Bolivarian Navy, the Bolivarian Military Aviation, the Bolivarian National Guard, and the Bolivarian militia reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of Simón Bolívar and his heir Hugo Chávez, reiterating their popular, anti-colonial, anti-oligarchic, and anti-imperialist character.

They swore to defend the nation against any external threat, in perfect fusion of the people, military, and law enforcement.

For his part, President Nicolás Maduro reaffirmed that the military of Venezuela has a true Commander-in-Chief: “I am of the people and I owe myself only to the people, and I owe myself to the popular, law enforcement, and military fusion,” he stated.

The President accepted the oath and declared that he is not in that position as a puppet or a coward, “I am not from the oligarchy, nor do I obey orders from imperialism,” and is willing to defend Venezuela from its external and internal enemies, even with his own life.

He declared himself a Commander-in-Chief proud of his Armed Forces and recalled the refoundation promoted by Chávez: “Our Commander Chávez founded the civic-military union as the perfect formula to build the new State.”

He took the opportunity to highlight that in the course of all these years of struggle against imperialist and fascist aggression, Venezuela has made a gigantic leap and has moved “from the civic-military union to the fusion of the popular forces, of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces as the United Liberating Army of the 21st century, and of the country’s law enforcement forces.”
