Don’t underestimate the strength of the military-police-popular unity in defense of the Bolivarian Revolution, Padrino said.
On Tuesday, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) strongly rejected the statements made by former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, who called for an international military intervention ro remove Nicolas Maduro from the Venezuelan presidency.

“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in strict adherence to its constitutionally assigned functions of guaranteeing the independence and sovereignty of the Nation and ensuring the integrity of its geographic space, expresses its most firm and categorical rejection of the perfidious statements of Alvaro Uribe,” Venezuelan Defense Minister Gen. Vladimir Padrino-Lopez stated.
“This cowardly figure, an ally of Colombian narco-paramilitarism, has dared to request an ‘international military intervention’ to overthrow the legitimate government of Nicolas Maduro, Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and our Commander-in-Chief, who was recently re-elected by the sovereign will of the people and sworn in for the 2025-2031 term.”
“We are well aware that the criminal coup scheme, preconceived by global capitalist powers, directed from Washington, and shamefully supported by neofascist groups from Venezuela’s far right, aims to undermine the institutional and political stability of the State. However, promoting war in Latin America —a region that has not experienced the atrocities of armed conflict for centuries and has been declared a Peace Zone— is an act of appalling insanity that could only occur to a malicious mind devoid of ethical and moral principles,” he added.
“Let the enemies of Venezuela know this! In the face of this new and blatant instance of interference in the country’s internal affairs, the sons and daughters of the United Liberation Army will remain faithful to our pacifist tradition and vocation. However, we won’t hesitate to confront, combat, and neutralize any threat or armed force, regardless of its size, nature, or origin, in order to preserve, by all possible means, the peace and integrity of this sacred land,” the Venezuelan Defense Minister stressed.
“Let no one underestimate the strength of the military-police-popular unity in defense of the Homeland and the Bolivarian Revolution!… United, we are invincible!,” Gen. Padrino-Lopez warned.
On Saturday, Alvaro Uribe, a far-right Colombian politician linked to crimes against humanity and drug trafficking, called for an international intervention endorsed by the United Nations to remove President Maduro from power. Maduro was sworn in for the 2025-2031 term before Parliament on January 10.
“We are calling for an international intervention, preferably endorsed by the United Nations, to remove these tyrants from power and immediately convene free elections,” Uribe said during a political event in Cucuta, near Colombia’s main border crossing with Venezuela.
In response to his statements, President Maduro emphasized that “no one wants a military intervention” because Venezuelans want “democracy, freedom, understanding, harmony, reconciliation, and unity.”
