Venezuelan Athletes Make Their Debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Swimmer Alberto Mestre reached fourth place in the sixth qualifying group of the 100-meter freestyle.
On Tuesday, shooting, swimming, equestrian, and judo were the disciplines that marked the debut of the Bolivarian delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Veteran shooter Leonel Martinez finished in 28th place in the men’s trap shooting competition after the second part of the elimination round at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“I know that everything I did, I did with my heart,” said Martinez, who scored 116 points after two rounds with 23 hits.
Swimmer Alberto Mestre reached fourth place in the sixth qualifying group of the 100-meter freestyle. The Venezuelan recorded a time of 49.51 seconds, with the first 50 meters in 23.18 seconds. In the overall classification of the event, Mestre finished in 37th position.
“Happy to have debuted here in Paris, my second Olympic Games. An event to which I was invited and truly an honor to compete here representing Venezuela and ready for what comes in the 50-meter freestyle. I felt comfortable in the environment, with about 20,000 people,” commented Mestre.
Patricia Ferrando placed seventh in Group B of the dressage equestrian event with 67.143 points. Riding the horse Honnaisseur SJ, she became the first Venezuelan rider to participate in the Olympic Games.
Finally, judoka Anriquelis Barrios lost in her match to Algerian Amina Belkadi. “Proud to have participated in my second Olympic Games. It was not an easy path. In the games, you cannot make mistakes and unfortunately, I couldn’t do my job. Still, I am proud to have stepped on the Olympic tatami,” she said.
